The ORIENTAL - The "FELINE FERRARI"
The ORIENTAL is a cat of elegance and grace with a long lithe muscular body and green almond shaped eyes. This breed of cat encompasses those cats with a Siamese body type whose body colour is not restricted to the points (as seen in the Siamese). That is, those cats with an all over solid or patterned body colour. The other distinguishing feature is their beautiful green eye colour, compared to the Siamese blue eye colour. Like the Siamese, they have a elegant lithe and sinuous body, a long whippy tail and a long wedge shaped head.
Colours: The green eyes of the ORIENTAL are the only common denominator from a colour perspective as ORIENTALS come in an extremely wide range of attractive coat patterns and hues. Including Black (ebony), brown (Havana), white, blue, lilac, red and cream.
ORIENTAL coats further come in three basic “patterns”.
They can be :
1. Self / solid colours (that is the same colour all over)
2. Tortoiseshell
3. Tabby – Tabby colours are divided as follows
(a) Mackerel – striped around the body
(b) Spotted - even or well defined spots
(c) Classic - oyster markings on the side of body
(d) Ticked - a ticked coat of various colours
The Tabby patterns come in all of the above colours as well as some exquisite combinations including Chocolate/silver, Lilac/silver, Blue/silver and Black/silver. The ORIENTAL’S short and glossy coat highlights these spectacular colours and patterns.
